Solar hot water systems and solar attic fans

With energy consumption rising, the generation and use of solar energy is increasing in professional, commercial and household purpose. Solar hot water systems and solar attic fans are good examples of using solar energy in everyday life. Several innovations and mature renewable energy technologies have been well established for many years. The equipments using solar energy are eco-friendly and less energy consuming at the same time.

Solar hot water systems are designed in such a fashion that it can deliver hot water for most of the year. The systems can be either active or passive. Where an active system uses an electric pump for circulating the heat-transfer fluid, a passive system runs without a pump. However, the modern active solar water systems use electronic controllers. On the other hand, some active systems obtained energy using a small photovoltaic (PV) panel.

A solar attic fan is generally powered by solar panels either mounted on the device installed independently. The attic fans are very useful as it reduces the temperature of attic, save stress on cooling system, conserves power. The solar fans driven by electrical means could pull air from the residence to the attic. The whole house can be kept cool by installing the solar fan in the attic. It creates draws in hot air and pushes it out. Moreover, it provides good circulation of air when cool outside air is drawn into the house.

The most advantageous thing about solar fan is it is more environmentally friendly than conventional ceiling or desk fans. However, though the initial installation of the fan may be costly, it is cost effective and energy saving in the long run. As the solar attic fans do not require electricity, there is need for power cords needed instilling them and the thus it is much less prone to accidents.
